Oak Hill Cemetery, Mount Carroll, Carroll County, Illinois
Rev. Simon Dresbach, b. 1802 in Pennsylvania, is buried here. A minister of the United Brethren Church, he labored most of his career in his home state of Pennsylvania. He was the son of Martin Dresbach and his first wife, Lydia Spyker. Martin moved his young family from PA to Ross Co., Ohio in 1811. During the journey Lydia died near Pittsburgh and was buried along the trail. Martin continued on with his young family to reach their new wilderness home. Rev. Simon is the grandson of Johann Jacob Dreisbach and Magdalena Buchs.
This cemetery includes burials of 24 Dresbach family members. All are descendants of Rev. Simon Dresbach and his wife Frances (Bowman) Dresbach. Their son, John Martin, has many children buried here. Their son, Harry, and his wife, are also buried here.
