Dresbach, Winona Co., MN
Dresbach is a small village located along the Mississippi River. Dresbach Township is the smallest Township in Winona County, Minnesota. Both the community and township were named after a great-grandson of Martin (1717-1799). George B. Dresbach, founded the community and was a representative in the state legislature for two years.
George Betz Dresbach was born 27 August 1825 in Saltcreek Twp. in Pickaway County to George Dresbach (Jacob > Martin) and his wife Catherine Betz. He moved to Wisconsin in the year 1855 where he married Mary Casey Nichols. Their first son, George Betz Jr was born in Onalaska, La Crosse, WI, on April 18, 1857. By 1858 he removed to Minnesota and established the township of Dresbach under the Minnesota Township Authorization Act.
For several years the village maintained a station on the former Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad.
